Reacting to the reports of authorities seeking details of Kashmiri students studying in various colleges and universities and keeping a close vigil on them, the incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Shabir Ahmad Shah Wednesday said the move is aimed at “harassing” the students mentally.

In a statement issued here, Shah while criticising the authorities warned of serious “repercussions” if anything untoward happens to Kashmiri students.

“Students are our future and we will not let anyone play with their careers. This approach by Indian government, particularly after the JNU row, is dictatorial, inhuman and unlawful and is aimed at ruining the career of these students and making them feel insecure,” he said.

He said that on one hand Kashmiri youths are subjected to “suppressive policies” with “lethal weapons” being used against them at home, and on other side, our students studying outside state are also targeted under various pretexts.

He also termed “biased” the reports of harassing of Kashmiri students by Rajasthan police and communal elements there and demanded immediate end to such anti-Kashmir activities.
