CHADOORA

The village of Kazipora in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district wore a mourning look after the dead body of a local army man, Mushtaq Ahmad Mir, who was killed in an encounter with militants, reached his home.

Mir was killed in a fierce encounter that ensued between militants and paramilitary forces in Kaisermulla area of Chadoora in Budgam. Mushtaq was among the four injured troopers who suffered bullet injuries in the encounter on Monday. Mushtaq had succumbed on the way to hospital.

Mir had joined 53 Rashtriya Rifles unit of Indian Army in 2002.

Thousands of people,including some men in uniform,were shouting slogans while mourning the death of Mir in his native village. Women were seen singing eulogies for him while scores of people participated in his funeral.

Mushtaq Mir is survived by his wife and two sons.

According to the police, militants had managed to give slip to paramilitary forces after injuring four soldiers.
