Sharply reacting the ‘Separate Township for Pandits’ statement of Union Home minister Rajnath Singh in Jammu, All Parties Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Geelani Wednesday explained that it is actually a “wicked plan of dividing Jammu & Kashmir on religious lines and making another Palestine out of Kashmir” and Kashmiri people will resist this move tooth and nail and will not let this “conspiracy to succeed”.
According to a Hurriyat Conference (G) statement, “we have learnt from the reliable sources in revenue department that Mufti Sayeed government has completed all the initial formalities in this regard and his recent visit to South Kashmir is the part of that agenda.”
“We have always welcomed the return of the Kashmiri Pandits to Valley and no one in Kashmir is opposed to their return but the Indian policy makers under its grab want to implement the Israeli pattern of such a plan in Kashmir which have been practiced in Palestine and which have rendered native Palestinians homeless and unsafe in their own homeland,” the statement said adding, “Some two weeks before the recent statement of the Rajnath Singh, an Indian minister of state although categorically rejected the separate township plan for the Kashmiri Pandits in Indian Parliament but Hurriyat Conference that time smelled rat in this process.”
The statement criticized Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for “keeping the general public in dark in this regard and he had many times till date changed his statements” in this regard.
“Though after coming into power, he assured the authorities in New Delhi for his complete co-operation in this regard and when he tasted the mood of the people, he immediately changed his statement and tried to mislead the common people by saying that Muslims can also reside in these separate townships.”
“During this process,” the statement said, “Hurriyat Conference also investigated this issue at its own level and it has learnt from the reliable sources that Mufti Sayeed is lying on this issue whereas besides South Kashmir, the land for the separate townships has also been identified in Srinagar.”
The statement further added that the separate townships for the Kashmiri Pandits is a “very dangerous plan” and Hurriyat Conference will not remain silent over this issue but they will try “to gather public consensus on this issue and will take every possible step to resist this move”.
“If Mufti government co-operates in this process or provided land for the purpose, a strong reaction will come to fore in Kashmir against this which will have serious consequences and all its responsibility will be on the shoulders of this government,” the statement said.
Terming the ‘un-Islamic’ comment of Rajnath Singh about the “waving of Pakistan flags” in Kashmir as “ridiculous”, the Hurriyat said said, “these are the words of those ‘Government Moulvies’ who are on their payrolls.”
“The Fatwa against the raising of Pakistan flags can be relevant or meaningful for Singh Sahab but Kashmir is in no way any part of India so this Fatwa is totally irrelevant here,” it added.
