The separatist camp on Thursday paid glowing tributes to Aali Kadal Martyrs of November 19, 1992 including the founding member of JKLF Sheikh Abdul Hamid.

The leaders visited the Martyrs’ graveyard at Eidgah in Old Srinagar City and reiterated their pledge of “taking the mission of martyrs to its desired goal”.

The martyrs of Aali Kadal include Shaheed Sheikh Abdul Hamid, Shaheed Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, Shaheed Advocate Jamil Chowdhary, Shaheed Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh, Shaheed Mushtaq Ahmad Kuttay, Shaheed Mushtaq Ahmad Khan and Shaheed Ghulam Mohammad.

Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairperson, Muhammad Yasin Malik, while remembering the martyrs termed them “heroes” who “through their sacrifice wrote down a new chapter of resilience and resistance”.

“Whosoever thinks of defeating a movement nourished by the sacred blood of these martyrs is living in a fool’s paradise,” Malik said while paying tributes at the ‘Mazar-e-Shuhada’ (martyrs’ graveyard).

“These great souls nourished the struggle for freedom with their blood and sacrificed their today for our tomorrow. History is witness that till date no freedom struggle has been defeated by oppression and tyranny. Shaheed Sheikh Abdul Hameed and his companions embraced martyrdom and spilled their sacred blood into the waters of Jhelum, turned it red and thus wrote a new chapter of sacrifices and struggle,” he said.

“Today when we remember these great men, we pledge to take forward their mission to its desired goal,” Malik added.

Islamic Students League (ISL) Chief Shakeel Ahmad Bakhshi and senior pro-freedom leader Mukhtar Ahmad Sofi also participated in a function organized by JKLF in remembrance of Aali Kadal Martyrs.

From JKLF (r), party’s General Secretary Wajahat Qureshi, Farooq Kashmiri, Ajaz Ahmad Mir, Zaheer Abas, Gh Nabi, Mohammad Saju, Nayeem Ahmad Dar and Javid Ahmad visited martyrs’ graveyard.

Paying tributes, the leaders said: “we are committed to take the mission of martyrs forward and despite all odds people of state have time and again reposed their faith in the on-going freedom struggle.”

JKLF (r) patron Barrister Abdul Majid Trumbo in a telephonic address also paid rich tributes to Aali Kadal martyrs.

Leaders from Hurriyat Conference (g) including Chairperson Islamic Political Party (JK) Mohammad Yousuf Naqash along with party activists vowed to carry the mission of martyrs forward.

“The immense sacrifices of this nation are tremendous investments to its freedom struggle. India despite its military imperialism cannot subjugate the masses of Kashmir,” Naqash said.

“The world community must take note of India’s hegemonic approach that is adversely impacting the peace of Kashmir in particular and South Asia in general. Despite all hardships, Kashmir would emerge as free nation soon,” IPP-JK Chairperson added.
