A lesser known separatist group, Muslim Political League, Wednesday held a protest demonstration in Mushtaq Ali Press Enclave in Lal Chowk demanding mortal remains of late Maqbool Mohammad Bhat and late Mohammad Afzal Guru. Bhat and Guru are buried inside Tihar jail.

Bhat was hanged on February 11, 1984 while Guru was hanged on February 9, 2013 in Tihar Jail, New Delhi.

Amid pro-freedom slogans, the Muslim Political League activists lashed at authorities for not returning the mortal remains of Bhat and Guru.

As the activists tried to take out a march towards Residency road, they were bundled in police vans.

Kashmir observed complete shutdown on February 9 while separatists have called shutdown on February 11 (tomorrow) as well.

Today as well, chaos and confusion prevails in Lal Chowk as police have put up barricades thus preventing vehicular movement towards Ghanta Ghar. Maisuma area has too been closed.

P.S: Kashmir Life received a mail from Peoples Freedom League reading that the protest was organized by Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League, Mass Movement and Muslim Political League.

The Hurriyat leaders and activists who were detained by JKP included Moulvi Bashir Ahmad, Farooq Ahmad Tauheedi, Mohammed Ramazan Khan and Imtiyaz Ahmed Shah. The detainees have been lodged in Kothi Bagh Police Station in Srinagar.
