Septuagenarian Injured in Road Accident Dies at SMHS Hospital

   

SRINAGAR: A retired headmaster who sustained critical injuries in a road accident near the Security Line, Batmaloo, in Srinagar on Wednesday has succumbed to his injuries at SMHS Hospital, officials said.

The deceased has been identified as Sharief-ud-Din Wani (72), son of Ghulam Hassan Wani and a resident of MIG Colony, Bemina.

Officials said Wani was injured after the scooter he was riding met with an accident in Batmaloo. Following the mishap, he was shifted to SMHS Hospital, Srinagar, where he was admitted to the Neurosurgery Ward for specialised treatment.

Despite strenuous efforts by doctors, the septuagenarian succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, hospital sources said.

Wani was a retired headmaster and was well known in his locality for his long service in the education sector.

Following his death, police have initiated inquest proceedings, and further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident is underway. [KNT]
