SRINAGAR: In a decisive move aimed at preserving public order and ensuring the safety of residents, the District Magistrate of Kishtwar, Pankaj Kumar Sharma, on Tuesday issued detention orders under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA), 1978, against two individuals allegedly involved in a series of burglaries across the district.
The detained individuals have been identified as Mohammad Rizwan, son of Altaf Hussain of Gurian, Tehsil and District Kishtwar, and Rahul Singh Chib, son of Gopal Singh Chib alias Magar Singh, originally from Himachal Pradesh and currently residing near TRC Kishtwar.
According to official sources, the orders were issued following a detailed examination of dossiers submitted by the sponsoring authority, which revealed that both men were repeat offenders. Their involvement in multiple theft and burglary cases had led to the registration of several FIRs against them at various police stations in the district.
The District Magistrate noted that the duo’s continued criminal activities posed a serious threat to the maintenance of public order. “No element involved in unlawful or disruptive activities will be allowed to create a hindrance in the peaceful environment of the district,” Sharma said in a statement.
