Official sources said the large-scale operations were carried out jointly by Kulgam Police and other security agencies following security assessments aimed at preventing any attempts to disrupt the annual pilgrimage.

The searches were conducted in higher reaches, dense forests, orchards, nurseries and other vulnerable locations across the district. Security personnel undertook thorough combing operations in remote and inaccessible areas, including forest routes and high-altitude terrains, to eliminate potential security threats.

Sources said several persons suspected of providing logistical support to militant networks were rounded up during the operations. Their activities and possible links are being examined as part of preventive security measures ahead of the yatra.

Senior police officials said the exercise forms part of a broader security strategy to ensure the safety of pilgrims and maintain peace in the region during the annual pilgrimage.

They said Kulgam Police, in coordination with other security agencies, remains committed to maintaining a robust security grid and will continue search and area domination operations in the coming days.

Security arrangements across Kashmir have been intensified ahead of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, with special focus on vulnerable stretches, transit camps and adjoining areas along the pilgrimage routes.

Officials also appealed to residents to cooperate with security agencies and report any suspicious movement or activity to the nearest police station to help maintain public safety and security. (KNC)
