At least ten shops were destroyed in a devastating fire incident at Iqbal market in Batamaloo area of Srinagar on Monday night.
An official said that at least ten shops have completely damaged and the cause of the fire is believed to a short-circuit.
He said that fire tenders with the assistance of police and locals brought the fire incident under control.
The gutted shops were dealing in garments and electronic items.
“I have lost everything. I and my family were dependent on the shop and see the damages. I am really at loss how to feed my family now”, said Adil Ahmad who owned one of the gutted shops.
The shopkeepers said they have suffered huge losses. “This (fire) has brought us to streets”, they said.
Meanwhile police have taken the cognizance of the incident and further investigations are going on.
