Drass town in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ladakh was coldest in the state on Monday with a minimum temperature of minus 31.4 degrees Celsius, the weather office said.

Drass recorded minus 12.5 degrees Celsius as its maximum temperature while neighbouring Leh recorded a minimum temperature of minus 17.5, Met office said.

Srinagar, the summer capital of the state recorded a low of minus 3.5 while the mercury in Qazigund in south Kashmir settled at a low of minus 15.9 degrees Celsius.

Gulmarg, the famous skiing resort in north Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 12.6 degrees Celsius.

The night temperature in Pahalgam – the famous health resort which also serves as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath Yatra – settled at a low of minus 13.6 degrees.

Kokernag town recorded a low of minus 3.7 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of minus 6.3 degrees Celsius last night.

Jammu recorded a low of 3.5 degrees Celsius while Batote recorded minus 2.6, Banihal recorded minus 0.9, and Bhaderwah recorded minus 5.4 degree Celsius.
