Wathoora and its adjoining areas in Chadoora in central Kashmir’s Budgam district are facing severe drinking water crises from the last more than five days . The locals have been requesting the authorities to come to their rescue but till date nothing has been done.

The locals informed that the crises has resulted due to technical snag in the local water pump station located at Wathoora which is not able to fetch drinking water to the overhead water tank located at Shahpora Wathoora which supplies this water to nearly 1000 households .

Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat has appealed Chief Engineer Public Health Engineering (PHE) Kashmir to intervene. Dr Muzaffar said that more than 5000 people are suffering due to non-availability of drinking water in Wathoora, Gopalpora, Sheikhpora, Wazapora, Dangerpora, Banhar and its adjoining areas.

“But till date the PHE Mechanical wing has not been able to repair the technical snag in the local water pump station,” Dr Bhat said, adding even the local Government Higher secondary school and other private and Government schools are suffering due to drinking water crises, even the wash rooms of more than half a dozen schools are without water from the last 5 days.

He demanded that water tankers should be send to these areas so that people get a sigh of relief.
