After continuous rains an snowfall since early Friday, the Srinagar-Jammu highway was closed for traffic.

Traffic police officials said in Srinagar that the highway has been closed due to fresh snowfall at Patnitop, Jawahar tunnel, Banihal and Qazigund.

There was about one feet of snowfall at Jawahar tunnel, the officials said, adding that heavy rains triggered landslides in Ramban sector at six places on the highway.

Meanwhile rains and moderate snowfall lashed Kashmir since Thursday evening leading to decline in temperature. Precipitation in the Valley has been predicted up to February 23.
