SRINAGAR

The 300 km long Srinagar-Jammu highway will remain close for vehicular traffic for the third consecutive day Wednesday after heavy snowfall and landslides blocked it.

Inspector General of Police (Traffic) said, a major landslide at Khairi Udhampur has blocked the highway leading to closure of the highway. He said, the work on clearing the landslide is going on.

Meanwhile, the snow and rains caused water logging in majority of the areas of Srinagar city. People and commuters faced difficulty due to water logging.

The air and rail traffic which had remained suspended on Monday however resumed yesterday after improvement in weather.

The Officials in Srinagar yesterday issued fresh avalanche warning in the avalanche prone areas of Kashmir. People have been advised not to venture out in the avalanche-prone areas.

The Meteorological Department has forecast more snow and rains in the region till March 10.
