Chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah Thursday paid tributes to “Shaheed” Shams ul Haq on his 24th anniversary saying “the name of this Mujahid stands high among the great freedom fighters of Kashmir”.

In a statement issued here, Shah said, “Shaheed Shams ul Haq was among the topmost freedom fighters who rendered immense sacrifices for the movement. He was a scholar par excellence and a brave warrior. As a scholar of Islam, he enjoys the privilege of being the author of many books.”

“Even the family of Shaheed Shams ul Haq has sacrificed a lot,” Shah said and paid glowing tributes to him and his two companions who embraced “martyrdom”. Shah also prayed in favour of all “martyrs” of the nation.

Meanwhile, a party spokesperson expressed grief over the “martyrdom” of Lashkar-e-Toiba commander Abu Bakr who achieved “martyrdom” while fighting forces in Sopore.

He said the nation will never forget the sacrifices of “martyrs” and paid glowing tribute to the “martyred” commander.
