While directing his department for the immediate restoration of damages caused due to recent snowfall in Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, Kishtwar and other affected areas of the division, minister of state for Power, Shabir Ahmed Khan urged his department for achieving cent percent physical and financial targets set for various wings under the power sector. He even warned the concerned heads against any kind of laxity.

The Minister took a detailed review of various ongoing works, including status of RGGVY projects, upcoming grid stations and High Transmission Lines as well. Shabir reviewed the functioning of the Power Development Department (PDD) at a high level meeting in Jammu on Tuesday.

Taking brief about various projects, the Minister emphasized the need to speed up the work on infrastructure up-gradation works aimed at improvement of power scenario in the state. He said the up-gradation of   the infrastructure would facilitate uninterrupted power supply and its distribution, besides drawing of power from the power stations under construction in the region. He also reviewed the measures taken by the department to improve the revenue realization across the Jammu division.

Shabir instructed his officers that there was an urgent need to enforce more transparency and efficiency in the working of implementing agencies at ground level.

“Failure, if any, on account of achieving physical as well financial targets will be viewed seriously”, the minister warned and said that erring officers shall have to face strict action. He said achievement on account of physical and financial targets will be viewed as the benchmark for assessing the performance of the officials.

He also directed concerned for early recharging of Barn-Akhnoor-Siot-Kalakote Transmission Line for mitigating power crisis in Rajouri and Poonch districts. He also instructed early augmentation of Thannamandi Receiving Station.

Shabir instructed the concerned to closely monitor the power system across the division and directed that damaged transformers should be replaced immediately to avoid resentment among masses.
