Special Assistant to Pakistani Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi Wednesday said that Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif will highlight the “critical” situation in Kashmir during his meeting with the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of World Economic Forum in Davos on Thursday, reports said.

He said if the situation in Kashmir is not addressed according to the wishes of its people, it would have far-reaching consequences, the report said.

Tariq Fatemi termed Kashmir a “flash point” which he said could turn into a very serious situation. He said the prime minister will seek UN’s role in addressing the long-standing dispute.

He regretted the “ethnic cleansing and genocide” of Kashmiris by the forces, the reports added.
