Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday used tear gas shells on student protestors near Srinagar’s Women college at MA road to disperse the protestors which included girls as well.

Witnesses said that cops thrashed protesting girl students of Govt College for Women M A Road here during the ensuing clashes.

Witnesses claimed that a girl became unconscious after a policeman kicked her in the stomach.

Earlier, the students from schools and colleges of neighboring educational institutes assembled near Exchange Road and resorted to stone pelting.

They also hit the bunker outside Telephone exchange with canes.

The vehicular movement on MA Road and residency Road remained affected during the clashes.

Meanwhile, one person was arrested from Regal Chowk Srinagar and bundled into a vehicle by SOG men of JK Police.

However, it was not immediately known whether the arrested person was a student nor was his identity ascertained.
