SRINAGAR: A group of engineers who were working under the Self Help Group (SHG) scheme on Monday staged a protest at Press Enclave here in Lal Chowk demanded rollback of the government decision abolishing the scheme.
The protesting engineers raised slogans and holding placards in their hands which read “Revoke GAD 572 order” , “Save Future” and “We want Justice”.
Syed Parvaiz Hussain President SHGEA said the government had launched the SHG scheme in 2003 for unemployed engineers and proper guidelines were issued for its rollout in 2017.
He said that on last Monday they held a protest at civil secretariat but police arrested many of our colleagues.
“We were ensured that within two-three days we will get an appointment with chief secretary but unfortunately there is no response from the government,” he added.
“We will protest till this order is not revoked and we will not get justice,” said Parvaiz.
“We have decided to hold hunger strike on October 2 outside Rajbhavan Srinagar,” Syed Parvaiz Hussain State President SHGEA said.
