JAMMU

Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde reached Jammu Tuesday morning to assess the situation on the International Border (IB) with Pakistan.

After LoC, IB witnessed heavy exchange of firing between Indian and Pakistani troops a couple of days before.

Sources said that Shinde will not be going to any forward post and confine himself to meeting BSF personnel in Sambha district. Earlier, Shinde was scheduled to visit three forward posts including Parahpur observation post.

The Home Minister will also be holding meeting with BSF personnel in Samba from where he would fly to Hira Nagar police station area where four people, including a police official, were gunned down on September 26 by suspected militants.

The Home Minister is also expected to have a meeting with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and top security officials of both state and central governments to take stock of the situation along the border.
