Saffron organisations led by Shiv Sena and Dogra Front have begun talking to the traders and other organisations for starting a full-fledged agitation against the alleged illegal meat shops in Jammu region, which according to them is city of temples and home to several sacred temples of the country.  According to the leaders of these organisations, illegal meat shops should have been banned several years ago but the same was not done for purely political reasons.

“Jammu is a city of temples. All illegally operating meat shops should be closed without any further delay. We are not against the consumption of meat but we firmly believe, none should be allowed to run illegal meat shops in the city of temples,” said State President of Shiv Sena Ashok Gupta while leading a protest.

“No illegal business should flourish in Jammu. We would do everything possible to ensure closure of these illegal meat shops,” threatened Ashok Gupta. Another saffron organisation Hindustan Shiv Sena has demanded that the meat should altogether be banned in the state. “There should be complete ban on the sale of meat in Jammu and Kashmir since it is a state where two sacred Hindu pilgrimages are located. Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Katra and Amarnath Shrine in Kashmir valley are both located in this state. Hence there is no scope of allowing meat consumption in Jammu and Kashmir,” said Publicity Secretary of Hindustan Shiv Sena Subhash Parashar.

Parashar appreciated the steps taken against meat consumption by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.  “Yogi is an inspiration for all those Hindus who want a complete ban on the consumption of meat in Jammu and Kashmir.” He further added that his organisation would work extremely hard and create pressure on the government, of which BJP is a part, to create an atmosphere where sale of meat would become virtually impossible.

It needs to be mentioned here that Halal meat shops located in Hindu dominated localities of Jammu have been closed due to the ongoing Navratra.
