Police on Friday issued the following statement about the grenade attack on an army party in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

A police spokesperson in a statement said that militants in the morning hours today attacked an army patrol near Good Will Public School in Ahagam area of Keegam village in District Shopian.

“Militants lobbed a grenade on a group of army personnel when they were busy opening the Goodwill public School today morning followed by the firing on army personnel. In this incident three army personnel sustained injuries who were subsequently evacuated to the hospital for the medical attention,” the police spokesman in a statement said.

“Army personnel exercised maximum restraint to avoid any damage to civil population and students around. Police has registered a case in this regard and searches to nab the terrorists have been initiated in the area,” the spokesman said.
