Shopian Gunfight: Army man injured, hospitalised

Srinagar

An army man was injured on Friday in a gunfight with militants in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

The forces launched a cordon and search operation in Bandpawa village after receiving information about the presence of militants in the area.

“As the cordon was tightened, the militants fired at the security forces, triggering an encounter, said an official.

“The soldier identified as Brims Dev received bullet injury in his right leg and was immediately shifted to a hospital,” said an official.

He said five militants were also killed during the gunfight.

More details are awaited.
