Authorities on Tuesday morning suspended the mobile internet service in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, following a gunfight in Heff Shirmal area of the district.

An official said that telecom operators in the district have been asked to suspend the services as a  “precautionary measure”.

Earlier the gunfight broke out began after a joint team of army’s 44RR,34 Para, CRPF and SOG cordoned off Heff Shirmal in wee hours. As the joint team of intensified searches towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon government forces triggering an encounter.
