One more militant has been killed in an ongoing gunfight with government forces taking the death toll of militants to three in Heff Shirmal area of in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Reports said that a joint team of army’s 44RR, 23Para and SOG launched cordon and search operation in Heff Shirmal after having credible input about the presence of some militants in the area.
As the forces intensified the searches, the militants opened fire on them triggering off a gunfight, they said.
A senior police official confirmed the killing of three militants in a gunfight so far. “Their identities and affiliations are being ascertained,” he added.
One army soldier has also sustained injuries during the course of the gunfight, he added.
The authorities have snapped mobile Internet service in the area.
