Scores of persons were injured during intense clashes with the government forces in Adkhara village of Imam Sahab area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district where three militants were killed in a gunfight.

Reports said that soon after the gunfight broke out scores of the youth took to streets and clashed with the forces.

Forces resorted to tear gas smoke shells and pellets to chase away the protestors and resulting in injuries to several protesters.

Sources said that the injured youth were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment where from three persons hit by pellets have been referred to Srinagar for specialised treatment.

Earlier three militants were killed and an army soldier was injured in a gunfight that broke out after the forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in the area.

Clashes were going on in the area when this report was filed.
