A complete shut down was observed in Shopian and Pulwama districts of south Kashmir for the 9th consecutive day on Monday to mourn the civilian and militant killings.

Reports from the area said all shops, business establishments, government and private offices remained closed in these districts while public and private transport was off the roads.

Sources said that heavy contingents of government forces were deployed at sensitive locations in the districts to maintain law and order.

On Sunday, April 1, 2018, 13 militants, 12 of them residents of Shopian, and 4 civilians, 3 of them residents of Shopian, and one militant in Pulwama on Friday were killed by government forces during 4 separate encounters.
