SRINAGAR: Alleging that centre’s tactics to intimidate and browbeat political opponents to make them toe their line has become tediously predictable, former chief minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Friday said that such ‘short-sighted scheming would not work’.

Mehbooba Mufti was reacting to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoning her in an alleged money laundering case on March 15 to New Delhi.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Mehbooba wrote: “GOIs tactics to intimidate & browbeat political opponents to make them toe their line has become tediously predictable. They don’t want us to raise questions about its punitive actions & policies. Such short sighted scheming won’t work.”

Official sources said that a notice was issued by ED on Friday, directing Mehbooba Mufti to appear before the directorate on March 15 at 1130 hrs in New Delhi.

Mufti, 60, was released in October last year after being detained by the government for nearly 14 months, since it scrapped special status to Jammu and Kashmir and divided the state into two Union Territories in August 2019.
