A retired Territorial Army (TA) man died in a hospital after he was fired upon by unknown gunmen on Sunday evening at Bachroo area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
A police spokesman in a statement said that militants had fired on a person identified as Abdul Hamid Mandoo son of Ghulam Hassan Mandoo resident of Buchroo on Sunday late evening.
He said that Hameed suffered serious bullet wounds and was rushed to District Hospital Anantnag, where from he was referred to Srinagar hospital for treatment of his injuries.
However, the injured later succumbed to injuries at Srinagar hospital on Monday morning.
Meanwhile, Police has registered a case under relevant sections of law in this regard.
“Investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this crime,” said an official.
