The State Human Rights Commission has issued a notice to Deputy Commissioner Pulwama and SSP Awantipora, seeking a response to a petition regarding alleged beating up of family members of a militant by government forces.

According to the petitioner Ahsan Untoo, chairperson international forum for justice Human Rights JK, SHRC member Dilshad Shaheen issued a notice to Deputy Commissioner Pulwama and SP Awantipora, seeking a detailed compliance report regarding the assaulted.

The family members of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant Lateef Ahmad Dar alias Tiger on Wednesday last alleged that the government forces vandalized their house and thrashed them during a search operation in Awantipora area.

The family alleged that the forces barged inside their house in Dogripora village and ransacked the property. They also thrashed three brothers of Lateef Tiger, identified as Gulzar Ahmad Dar, Nadeem Ahmad Dar, and Zubair Ahmad Dar, and three of his neighbours during the operation, the family had said.

One of his brothers also suffered injuries due to thrashing and was admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment. (GNS)
