Senior separatist leader and chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G), Syed Ali Geelani has called for a 3-day shutdown to protest against the hanging of Afzal Guru at Tihar Jail in New Delhi.

Geelani said hanging of the Guru is “unjust and murder of democracy.”

“I appeal to Kashmiri people to observe a complete shutdown on 9, 10 and 11th of February against the hanging of Guroo,” said Geelani over  phone from New Delhi. “Our stand on the Afzal has been that he was not given a fair trial and his hanging once again proves that Kashmir’s can never expect justice from the government of India,” he said.

Geelani also condemned the curfew which has been imposed across valley following the hanging of Guroo.
