Shutdown disrupts normal life across Valley

SRINAGAR: Normal life in Kashmir remained affected on Friday due to the shutdown called by the resistance leadership against the killing of two civilians and two local militants in an encounter at Padgampora Awantipora area of Pulwama district in southern part of Kashmir on Thursday.

A 9th class student Aamir Nazir of Begambagh Kakapora was killed during clashes with forces near the gunfight site at Padgampora Awantipora on Thursday. A militant was also killed in Bandipora area late last evening in a brief shootout with forces.

All shops, business establishments and commercial activities in Kashmir remained disrupted and streets wore a deserted look. Reports said that restrictions were imposed in some parts of south Kashmir on Friday morning.

A very thin movement of private vehicles was witnessed on the roads.

Reports of shutdown were received from all the districts of the valley.
