A complete shutdown is being observed in Islamabad district of south Kashmir following the killing for six militants in Shalgund village of Bijbehara tehsil in the district.

Reports said that a pall of gloom descended in the Islamabad district soon after the news of an encounter followed by the killing of six militants spread in the district. All the shops and other business establishments are closed and traffic is off the roads. Earlier clashes were reported from Khanabal- Naibasti localities of the town.

Six militants were killed during an encounter with government forces in Shalgund village of Bijbehara tehsil. The bodies of the slain militants were later retrieved from the site of the encounter, while their identities and affiliation are being ascertained.

Incriminating materials including a huge quantity of arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter.
