A complete shutdown is being observed throughout valley on Monday, in protest against firing on civilians in Pulwama resulting in injuries to more than 15 civilians a few days earlier.

South town of Pulwama has been kept under strict curfew from last five days. Both the factions of Hurriyat Conferences have called for the protest shutdown.

All shops, business establishments, schools, colleges and government offices are closed and the public transport is also off from the roads. Reports of complete shutdown have reached from all the district headquarters of the valley though.
The firing by the Army on the civilians sparked protests in the Pulwama district last week.

Two local militant were killed and three government forces personnel including an army officer sustained injuries in an encounter between militants and forces in Chandpora(Babgam) village of district Pulwama on Friday.

The slain militants were identified as Imtiyaz Ahmed Teli @ Fahadullah Kashmiri resident of Pulwama and Mohammad Aamir Bhat @ Khalid @ Khursheed resident of Shopian.

There were violent protest demonstrations in Chandgam and Pulwama during and after the encounter. Government forces resorted to firing on unarmed civilians resulting in injuries to more than fifteen people.
