Following the killing of two Al Badr militamnts in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, a complete shutdown is being observed in Shopian and its its adjoining district Pulwama to mourn the killings.

Reports said that all the shops and other business establishments in both the districts are closed and public traffic is off the roads. Earlier two Al Badr militants Nawaz Ahmad Wagay son of Ghulam Qadir resident of Rebban Zainapora and Yawar Wani son of Ali Mohammad Wani resident of Batnoor Litter Pulwama, ere killed in a gunfight with the government forces in Rebban area.

The encounter started after a joint team of government forces laid a siege in Rebban village after receiving input about presence of militants there, as the search operation was going on, the search party was fired upon by the hiding militants, triggering gunfight.

The police spokesman earlier said that the slain duo was involved in serious of attacks on “security establishments”.  The spokesman said that arms and ammunition including incriminating materials were also recovered from the site of encounter.
