With base camp in Jammu’s Reasi, week long Yatra to eco-fragile Kousar Nag Yatra started Tuesday morning. MLA Reasi, Ajay Nanda, flagged off a batch of Yatris.
Kousar Nag is one of the highest altitude springs of Kashmir situated 30 km away from Aharbal. The spring shimmers with fresh, crystal clear glacial waters and covers an area of 5 km in length and two and half kilometres in breadth.
Nanda, on the occasion, said, “he will personally monitor the water availability, stay arrangements, langer facilities right from Reasi to Kousar Nag.” “Efforts would be made to promote the Kounsar Nag as tourist destination,” reports quoted him as having said.
“Nanda,” the reports said, “asked civil administration to chalk out a comprehensive strategy to popularize the spot by erecting hoardings at prominent locations, so that pilgrims after visiting the cave shrine of Vaishno Devi here could be diverted to such locations.”
