SRINAGAR: The Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, R R Swain on Sunday emphasized the critical importance of road safety awareness at Jammu.
Addressing the alarming increase in road accidents in the Jammu and Kashmir, DGP Swain expressed deep concern over the significant toll on lives and limbs.
“The situation we are facing is truly painful, considering not only the loss of lives but also the injuries suffered by individuals,” DGP said adding that there is a need for a collaborative effort among various stakeholders to address this issue effectively.
Highlighting the role of the police in promoting road safety, DGP said that they strive to ensure the well-being of both drivers and road users. The objective is not only to enforce rules but also to create an environment conducive to safe travel, he added.
Recognizing the collective responsibility in minimizing casualties, DGP Swain called for cooperation among multiple stakeholders.
He stressed that with concerted efforts, including those from the police and other partners, the J&K could witness a significant reduction in the loss of lives and injuries on the roads.(KNS)
