SIT Constituted to Investigate Murder of Baramulla Sikh Lady, say Police

Senior Superintendent of Police, Baramulla Tuesday said that the police are investigating the mysterious murder of elderly Sikh lady.

“Today on 27/10/2015 during early morning one lady aged about 65 years (later identified as Smt Kundan Kour Wd/O Late Karan Singh R/O Kanlibagh, Baramulla) was found lying on roadside near JK Bank branch T P Baramulla in an injured condition. The lady later succumbed to injuries in District Hospital Baramulla,” a statement by SPP Baramulla, Imtiyaz Hussain, said Tuesday evening.

The statement informed, “prima facie has established that the lady has been murdered. Case FIR No. 182/2015 u/s 307, 302 RPC has been registered in Police Station Baramulla and investigation has been taken up. After medico-legal formalities the dead body has been handed over to the next of kins for last rites.”

“SSP Baramulla vide DPO order No. CRB/Order/2015/22190-96        Dated: 27/10/2015 has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the chairmanship of Feroz Yehya, Dy SP (Hqrs) Baramulla to investigate the murder case. The SIT has been directed to nail down the culprits and produce the case for judicial determination at an earliest. SIT has been asked to submit the progress of case on daily basis,” the statement added.
