SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have constituted an 11-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the mysterious deaths reported in the Badhal area of Rajouri district over the past 45 days.
According to an official order, the SIT will be led by Superintendent of Police (Operations), Budhal, Wajahat Hussain.
The team includes the Deputy Superintendent of Police Kandi, Station House Officers of Police Station Kandi and Women’s Police Station Rajouri, along with officials and experts from forensic medicine, toxicology, microbiology, pediatrics, and pathology departments.
Additionally, the SIT will seek expertise from professionals in food safety, agriculture, the Jal Shakti Department, and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) Jammu.
“The team will make all sincere efforts to conclude the inquest proceedings at the earliest,” the order stated.
At least 14 people have succumbed to a mysterious illness in the Budhal area of Rajouri in the last 45 days, with the latest victim being a 6-year-old girl who passed away while undergoing treatment at a local hospital. (KNO)
