Srinagar: National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Saturday expressed profound grief and sorrow over the loss of innocent lives in Kashmir and said the recent incidents of youth being humiliated and denigrated had caused him anguish and pain.

Addressing reporters in Srinagar on Saturday, Dr Abdullah said he would leave no stone unturned to strive for justice and peace and be the voice against injustice and oppression as an elected representative in the Parliament.
He said recent developments had made it amply clear that the PDP-BJP government in the state had failed in delivering on its promises and had created a very alarming political situation in the State. “Mehbooba Mufti should step down immediately and the situation in the state merits the imposition of governor’s rule. There is absolutely no doubt about this”, Dr Abdullah said.
Dr Abdullah said he would seek a dialogue between New Delhi and Islamabad and also ask New Delhi to talk to all stakeholders in Kashmir including the Hurriyat leadership. “New Delhi and Islamabad have to talk and try to honesty resolve the Kashmir Issue. The people of Kashmir cannot be expected to suffer endlessly. I will demand a dialogue between the two countries and also ask New Delhi to talk to all stakeholders in Kashmir including the Hurriyat leadership. There is no alternative to talk. You have to talk in an effort to find a solution”, Dr Abdullah added.
Dr Abdullah said he would in all earnestness endeavor to be the voice of the alienated and isolated youth of the Valley who have been cornered, stereotyped and pushed to the wall by the politics of arrogance and polarization. “I will voice their angst, their pain and their anguish as an elected representative.”
He expressed anguish over recent videos exposing incidents of grave human rights violations against the youth and said strictest possible action should be taken against those troops who are found guilty.
