SRINAGAR: Six alleged Militant associates were apprehended and arms, ammunition and other incriminating material recovered during two separate joint operations by Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Army and the CRPF in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, officials said on Tuesday.
Three suspects were apprehended during naka checking in the Heerpora area after security personnel intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number JK18B-6130, police said.
The arrested persons were identified asJunaid Muzaffar Dar, son of Muzaffar Ahmed Dar, of Chaddar, Kulgam; Aamir Yousaf, son of Mohd Yousaf, of Chaddar, Kulgam; and Junaid Bashir Dar, son of Bashir Ahmed Dar, of Matalhama, Kulgam.
Two hand grenades and incriminating posters were recovered from their possession, police said. An FIR, No. 84/2026, has been registered at Police Station Heerpora under relevant provisions of law.
In a separate operation in the Imamsahib area, a joint patrol involving Shopian Police, 34 Rashtriya Rifles and 178 Battalion CRPF apprehended three more individuals.
They were identified as Haris Manzoor, son of Manzoor Ahmad, of Axadpora, Anantnag; Ashiq Hussain, son of Ab Rashid, of Laram Ganjipora, Anantnag; and Arif Ahmad Kumar, son of Gh. Rasool Kumar, of Laram Ganjipora, Anantnag.
A search of the three suspects led to the recovery of one hand grenade, two AK-47 magazines, 20 rounds of ammunition and incriminating posters, police said.
Police have registered FIR No. 59/2026 at Police Station Imamsahib under relevant sections of law.
Further investigation in both cases is underway to establish the suspects’ activities and alleged links with terror networks, officials said.
The operations are part of security forces’ efforts to identify and dismantle support networks linked to terrorism and prevent attempts to disrupt peace and security in the district.
