Six people were arrested with heroin and cannabis from three districts of Jammu region, police said on Wednesday.

The arrests were made during checking drives in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch, Jammu and Udhampur districts yesterday.

The police nabbed Abdul Rashid and Mushtaq Ahmed, residents of south Kashmir’s Shopian district, from the Ayurvedic Chowk in Jammu and more than 1 kg of cannabis was seized from them, an officer said.

In another case, Ravika and Gurdeep Singh of Punjab were arrested from the Balolo bridge area with 10 grams of heroin , he said.

In Udhampur, Ranbir Singh alias Rambo was arrested with six grams of heroin from Barrian. The police suspect he is part of a gang of smugglers operating in the region, the officer said.

Qamur Hussain was nabbed in Poonch with 540 grams of heroin, he said.

Cases have been registered against them and investigations are underway, the officer said.
