Six Drug Peddlers Arrested Across Kashmir, Narcotics Seized

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday arrested six drug peddlers from different locations and recovered narcotic and psychotropic substances.

In Anantnag, a vehicle (JK03C-4157) was intercepted at Achabal Chowk. Arif Ramzan Mir of Shangus, the driver, was found with 16 grams of a heroin-like substance.

In Pulwama, a vehicle (UP38 AK 7313) was stopped near Hawal Bridge. Mohd Fahad of Hindupora Khada, Uttar Pradesh, and Aman of Begam Sarai, Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, were found carrying 11 bottles of Codeine Phosphate.

In Sopore, during investigation of FIR No. 23/2026 at Police Station Sopore, Mohd Umar Dar and Nisar Ahmad Bhat alias Shanu, both of Naseem Bagh, were arrested based on disclosures from previously arrested suspects. Police recovered Codeine Phosphate bottles from them.

At Hadipora Crossing, police stopped a suspicious person attempting to flee. Farooq Ahmad Malla of Hadipora was apprehended and a charas-like substance was recovered.

All six accused have been arrested and vehicles used in the crimes have been seized. Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations are ongoing.

Police urged the public to report cases of drug trafficking and assist in curbing narcotics in society.
