SRINAGAR: The six franchises of the Khyber Cement Kashmir Super League (KSL) Season 2 unveiled their official jerseys and the league trophy at a ceremony at TRC Ground on Saturday, a day ahead of National Sports Day.
The venue holds particular significance, having hosted last season’s final, which drew the largest football crowd the Valley had seen in years. The unveiling came barely 24 hours after nearly 200 footballers went under the hammer in the Season 2 player auction, completing the squads of all six franchises.
Among those returning are Season 1 champions United Elegant FC, who will defend their title after winning last year’s final in a penalty-shootout thriller.
The jerseys and trophy were jointly unveiled by Sports Minister Satish Sharma, Commissioner Secretary Youth Services & Sports Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, J&K Sports Council Secretary Nuzhat Gul and Khyber Cement Chief of Sales & Customer Relations Wasim Ahmed Khan.
The ceremony brought together senior government officials, sporting administrators, franchise owners, corporate partners and football stakeholders, highlighting the growing role of corporate support in providing young footballers in Jammu and Kashmir with competitive platforms.
Khyber Cement Director Corporate & Strategy Umar Tramboo said the company’s association with the league reflected its belief that growth should take communities forward.
Wasim Ahmed Khan said the league allowed Khyber Cement to connect with people through “passion and pride” and described Season 2 as another step in that journey.
Season 1 has already produced notable results. Emerging Player award winners Aazim Parvez and Abrar Ali have since been called up to the India Under-17 national team camp.
Season 2 features six franchises, a stronger player pool and increased corporate backing, with organisers aiming to provide young footballers a bigger platform while promoting discipline, teamwork, leadership, resilience and community through sport.
With six teams assembled and the defending champions preparing to defend their crown, the Khyber Cement Kashmir Super League is set for its second chapter.
