SRINAGAR: The body of a Kupwara youth, who died in Khanna in Punjab, is among six other mortal remains stranded at Banihal in Ramban district along the Srinagar-Jammu highway.

Reports said that the mortal remains of six persons belonging to different districts of Kashmir valley are stranded with the thoroughfare yet to be cleared of accumulated snow at several places.

Among the six bodies includes that of a youth from Pazipora in frontier Kupwara district, who died at Khanna in Punjab state.

The family of the youth appealed administration to felicitate the early arrival of the body. Similar appeals were made by those carrying back the other bodies.

Meanwhile quoting an official news agency GNS reported that all the bodies remain at SDH Ramban. “Efforts are on to clear the roads of snow and other blockades as soon as possible.”

When contacted Medical Superintendent Ramban Dr Abdul Hameed Zargar he said that three bodies were kept at district hospital Ramban and they were sent home soon after the road was thrown open.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Masrat ul Islam confirmed that five dead bodies were stranded on the highway. “We are facilitating their onward travel to Srinagar so that they are laid to rest,” he said.”Some bodies have already left.”
