A cardiologist from Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) has been awarded gold medal by Asia Pacific Vascular Society (APVS).

Sources said that Dr Imran Hafeez, Assistant Professor in the department of Cardiology SKIMS, won the medal at APVS’s recently concluded workshop in Delhi. He has also been offered overseas fellowship in endovascular interventions.

They added that Director SKIMS, Dr Showkat A. Zargar has said the institute appreciates acknowledgment and recognition to medical experts of SKIMS from various prestigious institutions in country and abroad.

Dr Imran Hafeez did his M.B.B.S from Govt. Medical College Srinagar in 2002, M.D from SKIMS Medical College and completed his D.M in Cardiology from SKIMS Medical College in 2011 and has many publications to his credit.

Formed in 2009, APVS is an international society of Vascular Interventionalists, Cardiologists, Vascular and Cardiothoracic Surgeons and Interventional Radiologists. The Society is committed to research and education in the field of Vascular Diseases, in particular to study the disease pattern in Asia Pacific region and other parts of the world, and to develop guidelines for their treatment.
