Reacting to reports in media that Swine Flu Patients admitted in the SK Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) here were a threat to cancer patients, Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr Ajaz Mustafa said the issue had been blown out of proportion.

“There is no specific threat as reported in certain sections of media. The six bedded ward meant for swine flu patients is part of the respiratory medicine unit. Since swine flu is a respiratory tract infection, such patients are admitted there”, said Dr Mustafa while talking to KNS.

He said there was no need to panic as the infection dies down on its own in most of the cases. “Most of the patients tested positive for the flu virus have already recovered and there is no reason for panic. Our hospital is taking all necessary measures to prevent spread of infection and there is no specific threat to any patient”, he added.
