SRINAGAR: Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura issues a crucial advisory, cautioning the public against certain organizations collecting donations in the pretext of facilitating treatment for cardiac ailments outside Jammu and Kashmir.
“It is for the information of the general public that some organizations are collecting donations in the name of patients, children to be treated outside the UT J&K for various heart diseases like VSD and other cardiac procedures, having referrals from SKIMS,” reads the statement issued by the institute authorities.
It said that the general public is made aware that these procedures are done at the Department of Cardio Vascular Thoracic Surgery SKIMS regularly. “In case any patient needs referral is given an official referral letter after thorough consultation by the concerned department,” it added.
“SKIMS has a well established Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery Department which conducts these cardiac procedures on a regular basis,” it added.
“Any organization helping poor patients can coordinate with the Department of CVTS SKIMS for these procedures rather than sending them outside,” it said, adding that sending these patients outside for treatment after collecting donations is setting wrong precedence and undermining public Institutions.
