SKIMS is going to launch website“ www.kidneyinurdu.com”on World Kidney Day, being celebrated on March 12.This website will provide information about Kidney, its functions and diseases, in Urdu language which will go a long way to educate masses in Kashmir about kidney diseases. The website will be launched by Director SKIMS, Dr. S.A Zargar on the occasion of world kidney day.
Dr. Khurshid Banday, Professor Department of Nephrology SKIMS informed that Kashmir is witnessing rapid increase in Kidney diseases and no literature is available in native language or any other language understandable to patients in Kashmir.
Dr Imtiyaz and Dr Muzafar consultant nephrologists at SKIMS said that the economic constraints make treatment difficult for patients with advanced stage of chronic kidney diseases, and in such a situation feasible option is prevention and early detection and as such availability of information is important which will inform as well as educate masses about the same.
This website according to a statement is being run by Kidney Education Foundation founded by Dr. Sanjay Pandya a senior Nephrologist from Ahmadabad, and with the initiative and efforts of nephrologists Dr. Khurshid Banday, Dr. Imtiyaz Wani and Dr. Muzafar Wani from SKIMS. The Urdu version of the website has been formatted and is accessible. A book in Urdu language will also be published soon.
