‘Skin Them Alive’: FIR Registered Against BJP Leader For Hate Speech

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against BJP leader and former MLC Vikram Randhawa after a video of him purportedly making disrespectful remarks against the Kashmiri Muslims went viral on social media, reported Daily Excelsior.

According to report the case FIR No. 357 of 2021 has been registered at Trikuta Nagar Police Station. The Sections invoked against Randhawa include 295-A and 505 (2) Indian Penal Code.

A video of Randhawa has gone viral on Social Media on the basis of which Police have booked him.

He made the comments over incidents of celebrating the Pakistan team’s win against India in a T20 World Cup match.

In the video, The BJP leader, who was accused in 2019 by Leh journalists of trying to bribe them for a coverage in the parliamentary elections was heard saying people who had affection in their blood for Pakistan, must be snatched off their educational degrees and citizenship. Randhawa said such people should also be beaten.

“Whoever is involved in it (cheering for Pakistan), each one of them should be caught and their skin should be peeled off. They should meet such a fate that future generations will know what it means to raise slogans against India or support some other kafir (infidel) country,” Randhawa, who was previously a member of the legislative council, told reporters.

“I can assure you that the Centre has taken a strong note of it and there will be a serious action.”

He added: “These 22-23-year-old maidservants move in burqas in Jammu but were waving their jackets chanting ‘Pakistan zindabad’ slogans.”

The BJP leader said their degrees would be cancelled, and he urged the authorities and cancel their citizenship.

“(So much so) that even their parents should realise what kind of kafir children they have produced. They are yet to be born, are just 20, 21 or 22, and are singing praises for Pakistan. The agencies are aware of it and it won’t be taken casually,” he said.

The video was first shared on Twitter by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Naeem Akhtar, to which party president Mehbooba Mufti responded stating “no action” had been taken against the BJP leader.

“No action taken against an ex-BJP MLA who calls for genocide of Kashmir and to skin them alive. But J&K students are charged with sedition for merely cheering the winning team. India is surely the mother of all democracies,” Mufti tweeted.

J&K’s BJP president Ravinder Raina said a show cause notice was served to Randhawa as soon as the party noticed the video as “such a language cannot be tolerated.”

“A video has gone viral in social media in which you are seen making absolutely reckless and hatred promoting remarks against a particular community. This is unacceptable to the party and has brought disrepute and embarrassment to the party,” Daily Excelsior reported quoting the notice.

The BJP disciplinary committee has asked Randhawa to render an explanation over his remarks within the next 48 hours.

Raina also warned Randhawa of strict action if an apology did not come soon. The BJP chief further clarified that Randhawa’s statements had “nothing to do” with the saffron party’s stand.
