In the backdrop of recent developments related to closing/shifting of some vital divisions of SKUAST-K, a meeting of all scientists, teachers, and other employees of the institute was held at Shalimar Campus to deliberate upon the matter.
“It was unanimously resolved to constitute a forum to address the genuine problems faced by the scientists, employees as a result of mess created by the administration by shifting/closing of atleast 11 divisions coming under faculty of agriculture particularly two core divisions of Agronomy and Plant Genetics and Breeding to wadura,” the SKUAST-K body said in a statement.
“It was seriously observed by all the scientists/employees in the meeting, that inspite of the matter being sub-judice and status-quo order issued by Hon’ble High Court regarding shifting, the university authorities have issued orders in the last week by displacing/dislodging almost all teaching /non-teaching employees of division of Agronomy & Plant Genetics and Breeding.”
The en masse displacement of scientists/teachers from the two divisions, said the statement, will result in an academic chaos and shall prove disastrous for the post-graduate students/research scholars in particular.
“The scientists/employees of the two divisions appealed to chancellor, pro chancellor, ministers for agriculture and horticulture, members of the board of management and university council to seriously look into the matter and quash all those orders which are against the interests of SKUAST-K.”
